Close Account with Free Data Access: Closing your account simply means you cease using the system, and there will be no charges incurred as long as you refrain from making any returns to HMRC.Opting to close your account allows you to retain access to the system for the next 6 years, provided you log in periodically to transfer your data to the new tax year. Failure to move your data to the new tax year will result in the suspension of your account login.

After 2 years of inactivity, if you need to access your account, a fee of £200 will be required to reactivate it. It is advisable to log in at least once a year to ensure your account remains current, and there is no charge for keeping it up to date. In the event that you, or anyone else, can access your data, you should select "Exercising Right to Be Forgotten" to complete the process.
